India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections crossed the Rs 2 lakh crore mark in March 2026, reflecting steady economic activity and improved tax compliance. According to official data, gross GST revenue stood at Rs 2,00,064 crore for the month, marking an 8.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
For the full financial year 2025-26, total GST collections reached Rs 22.27 lakh crore, registering an 8.3% growth over the previous year. The consistent rise in collections indicates stable domestic consumption along with a noticeable surge in import-related tax revenues.
Domestic GST revenues grew by 5.9% to Rs 1.46 lakh crore in March, while collections from imports rose sharply by 17.8%. IGST collections also increased significantly to Rs 1.06 lakh crore, driven by higher import activity. Meanwhile, GST refunds rose by 13.8% year-on-year to Rs 22,074 crore.
After adjusting for refunds, net GST revenue for March stood at Rs 1.77 lakh crore, up 8.2% year-on-year. Net collections for FY26 reached Rs 19.34 lakh crore, reflecting a steady upward trend in tax revenues despite higher refund payouts.
